Istana Budaya is KL's main classical performance venue. This is where I sang in "Tosca" with Lyric Opera Malaysia.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia came to our final performance. After the opera, the cast members came to the door and joined the crowd where he was exiting. He kindly shook everyone's hand as he left. "Thank you for coming," I said. He shook my hand, "My pleasure." And then he recognised me and said, "Oh you were one of the soldiers."

I think the building is reminiscent of the Sydney Opera House in Australia. But, the tourism information given is that it's built to resemble a kite from the traditional culture of Malaysia.
