Andrea at the Olgas

The Olgas

Another big rock formation in the middle of the Australian outback was the Olgas. There was a moderately difficult hike that takes you through a canyon between the giant red rocks. It was so hot and dry that it was against the law to start the hike after 11am.

While we were hiking, we heard something rustle in the bushes. It was a wild kangaroo. I was amazed at how deftly it hopped away on a rocky hill.

We also saw some wild camels. Camels were brought in some years ago and they have thrived in the outback's hot dry climate.
