Green Island

Fish at Green Island

Fish under the pier

Snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef

Our second day in Cairns, we went snorkeling at Green Island. This Island was made of sand and dirt which collected on a large section of coral. In 10 minutes, one can walk the circumference of the island but we wanted all the snorkeling time we could get, so we jumped right in.

Again the underwater coral seascape is fascinating alone. But, add a huge variety of fish and it was entertaining for as long as we could stay.

In the third picture, big fish (each of them is about 2 feet long) loved to hang out under the pier where it is shady and cool.
