Carving of Dancers on the wall of Angkor Wat

Apsara Dancer

Apsara Dance

The Apsara dancers are depicted here on the walls of the Angkor Wat. Although there are similar depictions on many of the wats, the dance was almost wiped out from memory by tyrannical rulers who tried to eliminate whole races of people.

Today, one can see these dances over dinner at the restaurants. The second picture shows the elaborate costumes they wear as the dances tell an entertaining story.
