The
Woodlands
We
moved to The Woodlands (near Houston) in February of 2009. The Woodlands is a
planned community that is quite attractive.
The most remarkable thing about
it is the abundance of trees.
They have laws to make sure no one cuts down trees unnecesarily. The first picture
is a typical street in town. Believe it or not, this is a strip mall. Each store
is allowed one small sign (no big signs and no neon allowed). That little red
sign is much easier on the eyes than giant golden arches. Behind 50 or 100 feet
of trees, there's a bunch of stores.
The second picture is a typical street full of homes. most of the yards are more
"trees and mulch" than grass.
Since virtually everything in town is hidden behind the trees, there's
definitely a learning curve for getting around and finding stores and services.
But, it sure is nice living in the woods.
