Camper Van in New Zealand

Camper Van

We drove a camper van all around the South Island of New Zealand. It's a popular thing to do so we found a good itinerary online and set out. We drove about 3 hours every day and spent the rest of the day seeing the sights.

There were lots of van camp sites with power outlets. You just plug in the van's power cord and then you have regular outlets inside the van. These sites also have dumping spots where you empty waste from the van. We tried to use public bathrooms whenever convenient so we wouldn't have to empty the van latrine often.

This little van came equipped with a shower (with hot water). The quarters were pretty cramped. I banged my head on the cieling a few times. But all in all, it was a great way to get transportation and lodging for one reasonable price.

It's a little wierd getting used to a big vehical, especially when you also have to get used to driving on the left side of the road.

All the camper van drivers wave at each other as they pass.
