Christmas Leaf

Merry Christmas!  This ornament is one of our prettiest.  It’s delicate and intricate.  It’s metal but you can see through it.  Lastly, I’m sure it reminds Andrea of home in Canada.  I hope you have a great day wherever you are.

Prague

Looking back at some old pictures.  This was from a trip we took to Prague, Czech Republic back in 2001.  There are so many wonderful places to visit.  When we were there, I knew we’d love to come back.  But, it was probably once in a lifetime.

Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

The Woodlands has a great concert venue.  It’s an amphitheater called The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.   We attended concerts by the Houston Symphony and by “Maroon 5″, Train, and John Mayer that filled it to it’s 17,000 capacity. Most recently, we went there for a Children’s festival.

This picture shows the canopy over the seats.  At the end of the Children’s Festival day, I managed to get this shot before they kicked us out.

Chicago’s O’Hare at Christmas

We learned on this trip that the day after Thanksgiving is a great day for air travel.  Everyone is probably either shopping or sleeping off the gorging from the previous day.  Either way, the airport was all but empty.

Passing through Chicago’s O’Hare airport, I enjoyed the patterns of the sunlit hall mixed with the holiday decorations they’ve added.  This was taken on the busy day we traveled before Thanksgiving. Despite it being quite busy, everything moved along smoothly.

Some Days are Like That

I went way out on a limb for this picture – literally.  I climbed a tree and layed on a limb that was hanging out over the pond to shoot down into the water.  The sun peeked through an otherwise cold, cloudy day in the Chicago suburbs.

I caught a bit of a cold and the car seems to be dying since I got back so it seemed appropriate to post a picture that felt like this.

Sunset Over the Clouds

Just flew back home from Chicago where we were spending Thanksgiving.  I love to look out the airplane window.  A photographer friend said he always pretended that he was on a flight personally chartered for his photography.  On this evening, the sun set over the clouds as we flew.  It gave a nice pink hue to the whole floor of clouds below us.

Cypress Trio

My two boys and I went wandering around with our cameras in the forest.  The terrain her provided an excellent setting for their impromptu adventure playing.  Which was a perfect time for me to set up a nice shot.  The trunk of these “Bald Cypress” trees flare out in cool patterns.  Also, those “knees” sticking up next to them are part of the tree.
