Virtually everyone lives in towering apartment complexes and condos. Singapore is in a hot humid climate. Thus, it is quite lush and there are protected park areas throughout the city.

The second picture shows a Chinese temple that is a block away from our apartment. Temples like this are still standing throughout the city and have been for more than 150 years. My friend tells me that the words on the front are basically saying "good luck." (Thanks Leo.)
