Life
in the left lane
While
in Singapore, we are driving a Nissan Sunny Saloon. I know it sounds like
a bar with big windows but that's the name.
Here, we drive on the left side of the road. This required some acclamation.
For quite a while, I would approach the car on the left and then walk
around to the drivers side on the right. I'd sit down and reach over my
left shoulder for the seat belt. Oops, it's on the right. At intersections
I'd look everywhere regardless of traffic direction. I'd try to turn on
the turn signal and the windshield wipers would start. Andrea laughs at
me.
After a month, I am used to it.
The second picture shows the common practice of stuffing a dozen people
in the back of a pickup truck to take them to work. I hope the driver
is cautious.
