This is the entrance to the Sri Srinivasa Hindu temple. It's in the area of Singapore called "Little India," and is dedicated to the worship of the Hindu god "Vishnu." People come and make offerings of flowers and fruit at the various shrines inside.

The second picture is of a statue of Hanuman, the monkey god (I think). The Hindu religion has lots of epic tales of the deeds of many gods.
