Longtail Boat

Floating Village

Rubber Tree tap

3 in 1 Trip

The previous pages of James Bond Island, Elephant Trekking, and the Cave Kayaking were all part of a really great full day tour that we took from Phuket. It was called the "3 in 1" trip because of the three excursions listed above. But, there was much more that made it even better.

We got around by bus and by a longtail boat shown in the first picture (just like the ones in Bangkok).

We stopped for lunch and local shopping at a floating village (in the second picture). All the structures in the village are either floating or on stilts above the shallow water.

In the third picture (back on dry land) we watched a brief description of the source of a lot of local income - rubber making. Rubber trees are grown locally. A small piece of the bark of a rubber tree is carved away. This causes a slow drip of the sap into a bowl overnight.
Then the sap is processed into sheets of rubber for sale.
