Emerald Buddha

Buddhist Monk

Thai Buddhism

Ninety percent of Thais practice Buddhism. Thus, there are many many statues of Buddha in Thailand. This is an important one. It's called the "Emerald Buddha." The people who first found it thought it was made of emerald (thus the name.) It is acutally green jade (with a gold hat and gold clothes on it).

The second picture is of a buddhist monk. They live right next to the temples. You can always tell who these men are as they have shaved heads and are wrapped in orange.
